Cask, The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon, Thursday 3rd April 2014 Very dark brown in colour, with fast vanishing off-white head. There is some plumminess on the nose, overipe sweet dark jammy plum. Sweet with a little fruity tang. Fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Cask at William Jolle (W’Spoons), Northwood Hills. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Plum, berry fruit aroma. Tastes similar, plum, berry fruit, slightly tart and dry. Quite pleasant.

Cask at the White Swan, JDW - London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose has ripening berries, plums and toasted butterscotch. Light to medium sweet flavor with further darkened butterscotch, slight toffee and burnt toast, a bit of jammy plum and bitter fruit skins. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Moderately sweet on the finish with further plum character, mild leathery berries, burnt bread, butterscotch and toffee, some earth, mellow herbal quality. It doesn’t quite all come together but novel stuff nonetheless.

Very dark caramel brown, dense creamy beige head, good lacing
Aroma - Big aroma of fruity plums, sweet fruits, slight dark malt underneath, mainly just plum, nice simple aroma
Taste - Fruity plum quickly dissipates, leaving a dab of burnt bitter roast, bitter yeast, some bitter twiggy hop, earthy, touch of rust, not a fan of this at all
Palate - Medium body, fairly smooth texture. Finish is dry, getting a hint of bitter paracetamol, astringent linger
Overall - Good appearance and aroma, palate and taste disappointing.

Cask handpull at Society Rooms Spoons Maidstone. Dark brown beer lasting beige head. Solid plum flavoured dark brown beer. Bit of sting on the finish. Plum on the aroma. Not too sweet or artificial. Pretty decent.

Goodmans Fields Spoons. Cask. Almost clear brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate with fine carbonation. Smooth dark malt, very light roast. Little dry malt cream. Nice fruity plum in the mid, slightly perfumey. Quite a dry finish with some bitterness kicking in. Not bad.
