Named after the great Hitchcock movie filmed in Santa Rosa in 1943. This Imperial Porter packs a rich chocolate and light smoked malt character with a very soft, dry finish.

On tap @ Boulder Strong Ale Fest 2014. Pours a deep brown / black appearance with a brown head. Roasted malty nose with some coffee, spicy / piney hops, and chocolate. Slightly burnt / roasty flavor. Alcohol is a bit strong. A touch of smoke. Pretty good but nothing crazy good.

On tap at the Brewpub in February 2014. Almost black with a tan head. Aroma of light coffee, roasted malt, dark bread, licorice and some light hops. Similar taste. Rather thick mouthfeel and with a dry finish. Smooth and a nicely drinkable Strong Porter.

Another nice bottle shared by Rob B. at Craig’s house. Pours pitch black with thin white head with solid lace. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, chocolate, sugar and deep roasted notes. Flavor caught me off guard. Coffee grounds, smoky malts, brownie batter or / cocoa like notes. The finish as long lingering roasted and charred malts. Body is full enough to be a stout. We split the 22 oz. bottle 5 ways and after I finished my sample I really wanted more. Excellent!

From the 12/2013 3R6P gathering +++ Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was cola, malt and hints of cherry and vanilla. The flavor was woody and roasty with notes of cola, malted milk and a hint of smoke. Medium length finish of roasty wood, cola and smoke. Medium body. Ok.
