For this 2014 edition, our brewers have selected Mosaic. This new US hop variety enhances the beer with a tangerine sweetness, hints of tropical fruit and an interesting blueberry flavour.

Bottle (courtesy of aetheon). Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a thin white head. Aroma is Belgian; with a grassy, lemony, grassy hop feel. Taste is slightly sweet; with tropical fruits, lemon, grassy hops, a bit of spice, and the Belgian yeast. Very effervescent carbonation; almost like a Champagne . Mouthfeel is light to medium, with a dry, bitter finish. Very easy to drink, considering the ABV. Nice!

Bottle. Can’t recall where from. Hazy gold. Thin, bubbly, white head. Bready malts. Big, Belgian yeast character. Some lemon. I suspect the hops have faded somewhat with this. Drinks like a crisp saison, really. Refreshing beer that feels well under the ABV. One that is well capable of evolving, maybe. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Aroma lemony, elderberry, citrusy, fruity. Clear golden colour. Big white head, rather quickly disappearing. Taste has quite pronounced alcohol, probably through use of candy sugar, slightly overcarbonated, hence a bit biting mouthfeel. Then there is hops, but this beer leaves me uncertain if this is a good choice for showcasing any single hops variety. I feel that the trademark spicy Belgian elements overpowered the hops. Might just be from long over-due drinking, but whatever. Still a good beer :)

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, some herbs, yeast, mild floral and fruity notes as well. Flavour is rather similar, but also has a quite nice malty body to it. Flavour also has a slight sting of alcohol as the beer warms up a slight bit.

Clear, pale golden. Huge, airy white head. Clean grapefruit aroma. Similar flavour, hints of caramel and warm spices. Not complicated but clean and solid.

Bottle, 9.5%. Sweet fruity berry aroma. Clear golden colour. Big stable rocky white head. The flavour has a mild and slightly sweet berry aroma. Blueberry, like it says in the description, is not far off.

New rating: 0.33 l bottle from ’Mitra’ (Beukenweg, Amsterdam) as part of the tasting box, best before August 2017. Clear, pale straw yellow with a greenish touch and a massive, fluffy, stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity-grassy, floral and slightly herbal aroma of lime, lychee, pineapple, fresh grass and lemongrass. Sweetish, slightly bitter, fruity, floral and a little herbal taste of lime, lychee, pineapple, some grapefruit, fresh grass and lemongrass, followed by a medium long, medium bitter, rather dry, a little yeasty, grassy and slightly alcoholic finish. Medium body, effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Very dry version, maybe a tad more alcoholic, too, but overall very good again.Old rating: 0,33 l bottle from Slijterij Bartels in Zwolle, best before 10/2016. Crystal clear, pale golden yellow with a huge, frothy, stable, snow-white head. Fresh, hoppy aroma of grapefruit, lemon, ginger and peppermint. Great. Intense, rather bitter taste of grapefruit, lemon, ginger, pine and resin. Quite long, medium bitter, warming and slightly alcoholic finish but not as much as the abv would promise. Slightly creamy mouthfeel, medium body, lively carbonation. I really liked that one. It is so strong in aroma as well as taste and very satisfying. (7/4/7/5/15/3.8)
