For this 2014 edition, our brewers have selected Mosaic. This new US hop variety enhances the beer with a tangerine sweetness, hints of tropical fruit and an interesting blueberry flavour.

Pale gold, large head. Aroma of oranges, mandarins, grass, dough, some herbal and tropical notes. Sweet with oranges, mandarins, some berries, bubblegum. Finish is a tad boozy and there’s a harshness to the bitterness. Looks as good as Duvel.

Bottled 330ml. -Courtesy of Yves (Visibaba Brewing), shared with Marko and him. Bright yellow coloured, medium sized airy white head, light lemon and black currant nose. Sweet malty, fruity (again lemon and black currant) and evident alcohol presence. Lingering bitter finish. Interesting.

Working on my "cellar" of beers, and I’m running behind. Gotta clear those beers out before the move. Better to drink them than haul them. This is the last of the four-pack. Pours a slightly cloudy sunshine yellow with a generous serving of cloud-white head, which is really blocking the nose on this one (plus my slight cold doesn’t help.). Taste leaning dominated by hops, but more, bitter, resin flavours, with a little soap. I got a mention for this beer in my Booze Brother’s Freaky_tiki’s review (Two months ago, I’m that far behind.) But I have to say this beer feels to me be relying on more of the hopstastic North American tradition, than the subtle yeasty magic that the Belgians do better than anyone else. Plus, there are just some hops that bug me. Summit being one, and I suppose Mosaic on there too. Sadly this beer doesn’t jib with me, but that just means more for you guys.

Again, huge thanks to Yves! Misty pale yellow-golden body, as one would expect from Duvel, but a head that’s not as huge (medium), but was nicely thick and went away slowly. Immidiate lemon-blueberry blast in the aroma, wow! Balanced by a fine maltiness too. Perfumey blueberries & little lemon ending in nice, heavy bitterness, just a touch too much perhaps in the finish. It’s impressive, the 9.5% is well hidden, and it’s a great beer, which shames nearly every Double IPA that I’ve had in my life. But it’s not as good as the Sorachi Ace version was.

A very pale cloudy yellow color with huge head. Aroma of tropical fruits, maybe even blueberries, also spicy yeastiness. Taste is spicy yeasts and fruits from the hops, biscuity, lingering bitterness. Foamy carbonation. Boozy, but still refreshing and very interesting!

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a pale and slightly hazy yellow with a lively and lacing, white head. The blend of Belgian yeast and good aroma hops once again proves to be a disaster, this smell like a glass of selected chemicals, damm it’s disgusting. Medium bodied, dominated by yeast, harsh phenols and other chemicals. This is beyond belief dreadful. 021214
