Brewed since 1907, when the near-complete staff of the brewery went to see the circus of Buffalo Bill, leaving the boiling brewing kettle to the care of the youngest employee. This boy let the beer roast and caramelise on the bottom of the kettle, but after trying, everybody actually liked the "spoiled" beer, which became the brewery’s staple diet.

Flaska från Belgoklubben. Mörkt rubinbrun med högt skum. Dofter av bär, karamellkola och lite metall. Lite oväntad smak där gammalt dammigt bibliotek dyker upp i associationerna. Torr komplex smak. Liten besvikelse i munkänsla och kort eftersmak.

Nice Belgian beer. Has the typical sweetness, but with a nice caramelised bitter edge.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 08/11/2014. Blackish, very dark mahogany brown, little beige head. Smell is sweet, cocoa and chocolate milk powder, herbs and roots, light roast, chicory coffee, light liquorish,… Taste is bitter herbs, liquorish, leaves, sweet chicory coffee, cocoa and chocolate milk, light roots, hazelnuts, touch dark fruits, light caramel, light bark, sweet,… Higher carbonation. Really surprised, way nicer and better than I expected. Way better than their stout. Excellent brew. A nice regular stout made be an ordinary Belgian brewery? Well I be damned.

33cl Bottle as Buffalo Anno 1907 Ale. Dark brown colour, light-beige head. Aroma of raisins, dark malts, dark fruits, some yeast, caramel, grain, some pumpernickel. Flavour is sweet, malty, dark fruits, raisin, touch of smoke, caramel, sweet fruity finish with a hint of alcohol. Light to medium-bodied, overcarbonated. Not a fan of this, it’s too sweet for me.
