Bottle at ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to Fergus. Pours rich brown with a sturdy, tan cream head. Big tangy berry nose, boozy malts, hints of cocoa. Medium to big sweet flavor, dark berries, light earth, some brown sugar, dark bread. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, some faint and dry cocoa, mellow tangy fruits. Decent stuff, though not very depthy.

Bottle at Chriso’s tasting 30/12/12. Black with caramel tones big beige head. Yeasty belgian phenolic aromas. Caramel and raisins with a slight tart finish. Not sure if this should be called a scotch ale. The fermentation character is that of a belgian strong ale.

Bottle at CBC, May 2012. It pours very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is cola, caramel, chocolate, chewy malt, dark fruit and spice. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, vinous aspect, meatiness, chewy malt, caramel, spice and lingering alcohol warmth. Medium-full body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. A decent Scotch ale.
