Meadowlark IPA is a new juicy and floral hoppy ale we brewed to celebrate the flavor and spirit of American craft brewing. This 7% alcohol beer has a sunny orange-gold colour, 60 International Bittering Units, a smooth mouthfeel and layers of soft flowery hops. We wove fragrant Citra and Bravo hops from the Pacific Northwest with intensely fruity Galaxy hops from Australia. The malts are English pale & crystal, flaked barley with malty highlights from Munich malt and Roast Barley. The resulting patchwork is as “American” tasting as short ribs and slaw, and provides an excellent accompaniment to that kind of food too!

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a medium off white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, pine, citrus. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet and bitter, with bitterness increasing into the finish. Medium bodied and a bit oily. Pleasant, but not really my wheelhouse. I did not get the strong fruitiness - maybe my bottle sat in the store too long...

Bomber from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours hazy orange gold with a creamy/foamy 3 finger white head. Lots of lot pitted fruit with citrus for aroma. Med body or better. Flavor is fruit, fruit and fruit (and citrus) over a nice caramel backbone. It’s fairly floral as well. Finishing like bitter peach - if there is such a thing. It’s just excellent.

Location: 22 oz bottle from The Hop, 9/30/12, Rating #2450
Aroma: The nose has some floral hops, a little pine, some earth, grass, and a notes of citrus
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a sheet of off-white head that coats the glass in lace
Flavor: It tastes lightly sweet, floral and citrus flavors, with a crisp, medium hop bitterness on the finish
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, creamy feel, a soft carbonation, and a clean, dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a heck of an IPA, it hits all the marks for me from nose and taste all the way through feel. Nicely done here by Pretty Things, but that is to be expected, as these guys know what they are doing when it comes to brewing beer. This one was pretty much world class-level for me. This rating is goes out the Billy Cundiff's 1/4 day (with a game winner). It still shouldn't save his job.

Draft @ Sunset Grill and Tap. Nose shows malt with big floral hops and large amounts of grapefruit hops. Taste is mostly of the same with juicy, tropical hops, light pine notes and just a bit of malt under all the hop flavors. The Citra hops are nice and bright. The overall hop profile is really fresh and wet. Bitterness is slightly lingering yet not real lasting. Leans on the more classic example of the style. Finish being on the dry side. Pretty Things create another fine brew. Damn tasty and great on draft!

Bottle at the Cabin in NH. Pours clear, rich gold, effervescent, with a strong, creamy white head. The aroma is delightful, with tons of pine, melon, mild pee and grapefruit. Medium to big sweet flavor with faintly toasted pale malts, sticky grass and pine, light alcohol presence, ripe amd juicy citrus, subtle sugar and marmalade. Full bodied with average carbonation. Decently warming finish with lots of resinous bitterness, some dirt and grass, toasted sugars. Very nice, if slightly heavy on the palette at times. The general character, though, is stupendous.

22 oz. bottle, split several ways, pours a clear golden with amedium white head. Aroma of huge piney hops, yeast and grainy malts. Flavour is dominated by beautiful piney hops, very pungent, balanced well by grainy malts. Very potent, but balanced and not too harsh. A really excellent IPA.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a smooth funky herbaceous malt with nice floral hops, quite nice. In mouth, a nice grassy malt with light coriander notes, floral hops, complex and smooth. On tap at Somerville Summerfest, July 14, 2012.
