10th December 2012
Old Coffee House. Hazy gold beer, decent pale cream coloured head. Mild fine carbonation in a slightly soft palate. Pale malt shows a little cream. An initial hit of grapefruit and lesser citrus. Super mild skunk underneath. Then sublte tropical fruits. Strong bitterness and bitter linger. As often with Galaxy beers the bitterness masks the tropical fruits, but at least here they are not obliterated! Decent.

Cask 1/2 pint @ Brodies / King William IV. Last one for the road - fulfilling my obligation to try cask stuff @ London. Pale golden with some white bubbles for a head. Smell is sweeter kiwi, kiwi peel, white grape, UK hops, flowers, grass and yeast. Taste is a bit watery like all cask to me, floral, grass, white grape, yeast, bitter floral, kiwi, touch herbal. Very dry & quite bitter, like all cask to me, slightly watery, lower carb. bit fuller. This is a session beer as far as I am concerned.

Cask at The Old Coffee House, London. Pours clear yellow with a frothy, white head. Lovely nose of pee, grass and ripe grapefruit. Light to medium sweet with lots of gritty pine, sticky grass, earth, pale malts, some lemon rind, papaya. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Lightly drying to finish with lots of gritty earth and grass, some tang citrus, more rindy bitterness. Good, but the bitterness seems a bit abrasive.
