(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 2 June 2007) Black colour with brief, foamy beige head. Roasted and fruity nose with coffee and loads of citrussy hops. Roasted taste with coffee, liquorice and notes of chocolate. But the palate is soon dominated by serious amounts of citrussy hops, giving it a bitter finish with grapefruit and pine needles mingling with the coffee bitterness. Absolutely brilliant.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Very black, small pale brown head. Aroma of chocolate and licorice. Dry, soft and full bodied with loads of chewy malt. Licorice mixes with asphalt and chocolate. Salty, tarry finish. Powerful, but never assaulting, A great Imperial Stout!

Tap, Olfestival. Dark brown color, short creamy head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, rye, roasted malt, some laurel. Great coffee and licorice taste, also quite some chocolat in. Some hints of cola as well. Nicely balanced.

Black with a lasting light brown head. Fresh hops is the first impression in the nose, then chocolate, coffee and caramel. Good bitter flavour with some coffee.

2010 notes. Near dark. Rich syrupy chocolate aroma with hints of vanilla, maybe light wood. Thick sweet, quite smokey and with rich chocolate. Finishes with a light fruitiness, lots of chocolate - and a little dry and alcoholic.

2007 notes. Shiny black body, dark brown head. Chocolatey nose with hints of nuts, vanilla, grapefruit. Somewhat thin body. Shows a nice woody, grapefruity hop character and chocolatey note. Decent, I kind of like the hop accent, though a little extra malt complexity would really hit the spot. 8-4-8-4-16 = 4.0

Huge beige head; jet-black beer. USA C-hops; dry, grapefruit, grapes, hop bales. Hops, liquorice, meaty esters, dark roasted grains, ending in drop and very dry. Well-bodied, slick and viscous; tinge of alcohol. Dry à souhait . Very good, American-typed (hyped?) Imperial Stout.

50 cL bottle (shared with faroeviking). Pours pitch black with brown creamy head. Great sweet and flowery aroma. This is really good: it starts out heavy with loads of aroma hops that then goes into a very soft stout sweet and malty taste and it ends in a soft bitter finish. Fanstastic tour! What a pity that this isn’t the sort of brew that is to find on the shelves in the normal stores as this could have been the best of the year if broad distribution had been made.
