Tap, Kulminator in Antwerp. One of the very last glasses. Oak and a touch of cherries in the aroma. Cherry, cherry pits, vanilla and oak in the flavor. Tart. Great beer!

@ LIBF 2016. Nice red colour, almost no head. No carbonation. Incredible fruitiness without being too sweet. No artificial sweeteners detectable. Tart, fruity and delicious kriek!

Cask-plastic pouch @ LIBF’16. Shared with the RB Belgian team.

16/V/16 - on tap @ Leuven Innovation - BB: n/a (2016-537) Thanks to the Belgian RB crew for sharing today's beers!
Clear deep ruby red to almost purple coloured beer, irregular creamy dark pink head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very intense sour cherry smell, fruity, ripe "krieken", almost to an artificial point. MF: no carbon, medium to light body. Taste: lots and lots of sour cherries, pretty bitter touch, some tannins, very acidic. Aftertaste: lots of cherries, acid burning the throat almost, lemon juice, very sour, but how lovely.

Tasted years ago at some beer festival. The ’pure’ version of Liefmans Kriekenbier (now called Cuvée Brut), relating to it in much the same way a pure kriekenlambic relates to an ’oude kriek’ from a bottle. Complex, tart, woody (cherry stones), very fruity and estery, a bit vinous, malt sweetish, with a dryingly acidic, yeasty and tart finish, this is the ’real thing’, aptly illustrating the complexity and nobility of the ’oud bruin’ tradition.

IMPORTANT – don’t ask for bottles of this one even if you know or can guess where I got it. Had this one @ Dirk’s totally incredible 65th birthday party. Many incredibly huge bottles shared graciously there by Dirk. Dirk had actually this beer bottled – he has the only bottles ever made of this, only made for himself – incredible. 2002 brew, bottle on 2005. 3 liter bottle with label plastered on them by Dirk himself because they were unlabeled. He opened 2 bottles of this – I was lucky enough to get 2 glasses. Pours murky red, only some bubbles but little in the way of a head. Nose is pure tart kriek, some vintage notes but subdued, wonderfully tart, cherry skin, light tart,… Taste is tart kriek, lots of kriek pits, pure kriek skin, some dust, wonderfully sour & tart, age does somewhat show but subdued & obscured by awesomeness, finish is acidic, nicely sour, perfect balance, top, top tier kriek, incredible. Body is flat. I had a recent version of this & seriously please bottle this – this is incredible. Lots of crazy bottle shared & this was memorable – 9 liter vintage St. Feuillien Triple, Gouden Carolus 9 litre – 2009. 1983 – 3 liter Oerbier (beyond amazing),… Oh yeah – what a beer.

Dezent saurer Antrunk, zum Mittelteil deutlich stärker. Ein leichtes Fruchtaroma ist hier erkenbar und wird im Nachgeschmack schwächer, bleibt aber auf angenehmem Level. Weiter sauer, sehr lecker! Test vom 10.9.2007, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 10,13,11,13,-,13 - 12,36

Tap at Erasmus. Pours a deep cherry red with small bubbles. Aroma of fairly sour cherries - Schaerbeekse. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is sour. Also cherry. Smooth. Acidic mellowing to tart. It’s woody. It’s the best cooking cherry.
