Explosive strawberry flavour, with pleasant acidity from the rhubarb. Earthy and chocolatey.

The base stout is quite nice. Upfront roasty malts, notes of cocoa, coffee, you know.....a well made stout. Ok, now in comes the rhubarb. I dont find its adding much to the aroma, or flavor, but it is adding some tartness that is quite interesting in the aroma and finish.

Dark brown. Thick head. Roast, and a little bit of strawberry on the nose. On the palate, it's got a lot of tartness, which to me doesn't match the roastiness. I just don't like dark sours, and that's what I get here. A little bit of strawberry sweetness but that's really about it. A bit messy, mostly because I'm not nuts about the concept.

473mL can, pours black with a small beige head. Nose is full of rhubarb upfront, followed by strawberries, and some toasted malt. Flavour is fruity yet dry, with plenty of rhubarb, strawberry and toasted malt. Medium-bodied, with low residual sweetness. Nothing special or complex but it's pleasant.

Teku glass draft at Dieu du Ciel in Montreal, Quebec. The pour is slight haze brown black, with hints of a ruby and a smaller light tan head that leaves nice lace. The aroma is roast, caramel sugar, tiny hint of char, and as a the beer warms a gentle tart fruit. The taste shows the Rhubarb much sooner, and more pronounced. The Rhubarb as a really interesting acidic tart fruit vegetal kick to the base flavors of roast coffee, caramel sweet malt and the lingering char to the finish. The flavors integrated and played together really nicely. The palate is medium bodied with active carbonation and the roast Rhubarb grassy finish. This was really well made, so good.

Still a very fine specimen, good solid head and dark ruby black brown body. Soft sweet barley on the nose. Flavour is soft coffee and barley with this weird grassy kick on the back of it - oh that must be the rhubarb. It is hidden back there but nudges you once in awhile. Probably the best way to deal with it.

Draft: Poured a dark black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light smokey notes and roasted malt with clear notes of rhubarb. Taste is also dominated by clearly vegetable notes of rhubarb and some roasted malt with a dry finish. Body is about average with great carbonation. Interesting novelty but not sure I would seek this on a regular basis.
