500ml bottle from Brewdog Bar in Aberdeen. Pours a hazy deep brown with a thin tan head. Nose; brown sugar, fig, dates, cherry, rasin. Taste; syrupy, lots of dark fruits, brown sugar, wood, varnish, resin, earthy. For a barley wine it was suprsingly drinkable. Good effort!

500 ml bottle at Churchkey, shared with neighbors. Amber color, edge head. Aroma of raisins, caramel, light spice. Flavor is highly complex for a barleywine, lots of spice and caramel A winner.

500 ml bottle. Slightly hazy, dark reddish amber with a thin tan head. Styrong aroma of malt, caramel, dry fruit and Madeira. Flavor is sweet malt, balanced bitter, fruity, hint of roasted caramel with a smooth and warming alcoholic finish. The finish is really long and after a while the bitterness is more obvious. I tasted this one a year ago when fresh and the aging has done it good, a touch of oxidation has also started, and in this case it’s a good thing so far. A very pleasant beer.

Head reduced to off-white rim over hazy deep-dark, redbrown beer. Extremely alcoholic, premium spirit nose with jumble of fruity esters; vanilla, rum, rumcakes with raisins... Alcoholaromas are a bit fleeting, however. Sweet, with a fine bitterish finish. But that’s a mundane description: the "sweet" is really liqueurish fruit on vanilla-soaked brandy casks. The "bitterish" is like the aroma of Irish moss, duckweed, or other mushy, fresh aromatic waterplants. There’s a smokiness as from cigar coverleaf. Well-bodied, but at the same time surprisingly drinkable, not syrupy, but dense.Warming finish, and sweet wood (NOT: liquorice) in the aftertaste. Superb Barley Wine. Deserves a to be named a classic.

Bottle. Dark amber with a small head. Aroma of malt, alcohol, dried fruits and some licorice. Similar things in the taste. I thought the beer was a bit rough, sticky and heavy mouth feel. Not a bad beer but maybe a couple of years of storage does wonders?

Pours dark copper color with frothy cream colored head. Aroma of darkfruits, caramel and candy sugar. Lots of caramel and toffee flavor with a good amount of candy sugar sweetness. Some fig and raisin flavors also. Somewhat boozy and slightly medicinal. Medium to full body with mild carbonation. It gets a little better as it warms.
