A blend of our 129th brew, a rich American style Imperial Stout, aged in Ardbeg Whisky barrels for 12 months, and fresh Imperial Stout. Delicious to drink now, but will mature gracefully over time.

A bit thinner than I’d hope, but nice whisky smoked notes

On tap at Beer Cellar Exeter, pours an oily deep brown/black with no head. Nose is OK, lots of booze and marzipan, licorice, coconut and caramel. Flavor is worse though, just way to much industrial smokiness and rubber, molasses, malt, pumpernickel. Finishes full bodied, oily, smokey, boozy. How do people enjoy this?

Tap. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Very dark cola brown. Slim, tan head. Nose has treacle. Tar. Soy. Lots of dried vine fruits. Hint of savoury smoke. Hint of dark chocolate. Taste is smoky, chocolatey sweet. Tangy and vinous. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Doesn’t feel the ABV at all. More of the vine fruits to finish.

Last beer of the night; 20th June 2017. Shared between five (75ml bottle) in Chez Sophie. This followed a Firestone Walker Parabola (which was excellent), so it had to be good, and it was! Very dark pour, tanned topping. Peat Bog aroma and initial taste, got better though thank goodness, as the booze and malts came out the play. Smouldering Peat Bogs remind me of the Falkland Islands so I struggle to enjoy a drink that takes me back to there. Luckily this beer only did that momentarily.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie. Pours dark, medium tan head, aroma of peatbog / TCP. Taste presents dark malts, moderate TCP ardbeg, nice dark chocolate, quite smooth and easy-going for an Ardbeg BA imperial stout. I like.

Tried at the Craft Rooms Lincoln. Even went into the cellar to make sure it was this version. Great to see a beer like this on tap in Lincoln. Jet black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is peaty whiskey, molases and slight liquorice. Taste roasted bitter to smokey and sweet finish. Warming body.

Poured up at Ratebeer Best 2017 Beer Fest where it exhibits a nice dark colored body that supports a thin mocha colored head of foam. The modest aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate malts, a kind of mild earthy barrel note and then a little more chocolate into the end of the draw. The taste delivers a pleasing mix of chocolate malts, dark roasted malts and earthy sort of softly peaty barrel notes. It then heads into an increasing and pleasing degree of chocolate. The faintly smoky earthy peat sensation does sort of rule the flavor experience . . . in a good way. A real nice sipper.
