A blend of our 129th brew, a rich American style Imperial Stout, aged in Ardbeg Whisky barrels for 12 months, and fresh Imperial Stout. Delicious to drink now, but will mature gracefully over time.

Getting a vague sense of bleach here like a late Michael Jackson album. Roast and a little nut. Bourbon not too strong. Bittersweet finish with booze. Slick consistency. Tap at partisan.

Tap into a wineglass showing pitch black with no head. The nose shows dark roasted malts and molasses. The palate is slick and oily with no carbonation. Light peatiness permeates in the background with dark roasted malts on the finish. Not enough barrel.

Keg at The Taproom, Manchester, Saturday 1st April 2017 in the company of Dad and Barry. Hugely drinkable Impy Stout, I prefer this to the Christmas Cake stout, it’s a super smooth beer the colour is black with a filmy beige head. The barrel ageing is great and adds a little heat but it is a lovely beer. Excellent. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.1

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to the team. Almost clear brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry with good fine carbonation. Soft malts, mildly sweet. Nice chocolate, dark and a little milk chocolate. Light alcohol spice. Mild dark fruits. Modest peat, well buried. Great! Smooth finish brings a raisin character in the dark fruits, Nice.

750 ml bottle. Pours back with moderate tannish head. Aromas of dark fruit, creamy chocolate and alcohol. Flavors of light peat, smooth roasted malts, more creamy chocolate and more whiskey vapor. Smoky/peat flavors are very subtle ( a good thing) thouhg alcohol is apparent. Still very good!.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to the team! Pours black-brown with a frothy, beige head. Nice aroma, some peat but not too much, a little rubber, cocoa, light roast. Medium sweet flavour with light ashy roast, baking cocoa, dried berries, further peat, mellow alcohol. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Smooth finish with mild warmth, more baking cocoa, peat, dried fruits. Lovely beer.
