The first fruits of our Tryanuary brewday, this is Tonkoko like you haven't seen her before! Coming in at a mighty 10.6% and (of course) with even more coconut, tonka, chocolate and vanilla. Boozy, indulgent and so good. Very limited quantities, this is a sneak peek before the barrel aged versions are unleashed next year.

Panda 🐼 at home thanks to Colin. An oily dark black sticky brown coloured pour with a loose tan head. Aroma is big tonka bean, spiced cinnamon, brown sugars, bourbon biscuits, brandy snap sugars. Flavour is composed of oily brown sugars, toffee pud, some powdered choc, tonka beam , nutella, some spice. Palate is oily, medium sweet, sticky, Hides the abv very well.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 19/03/21. Black with a good sized khaki head that settles to a thin cap. Nose is rich chocolate, coconut shavings, light spice, mellow roast, brown sugar melt, vanilla essence. Taste comprises tonka bean, sweet malts, light coffee bean, cocoa powder, toffee, coconut fudge, vanilla. Medium bodied with bite, fine massaging carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid well rounded impy stout ... sips real easy for the double digit boost and delivers on flavour.

Can at home, picked up at Elusive Tap Room, 20th March 2020. Pours thick and black. Aroma is Tonka and some spice, chocolate, roasty. Taste is smooth, loaded with tonka, chocolate, some bitterness, really drinkable. Lovely stuff.

Bottle at Castlegate Bottle Share. It pours hazy dark brown wtth a small, tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, savoury, beans, umami, cacao, toasty, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and coffee grounds. The taste is bitter - sweet, earthy, umami, toasty grains, meaty, toasty grains, beans, cacao, chocolate cake, spicy, leather, chewy and earthy with a drying finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. A weird concoction. Works OK.

440ml can. Pours black with a huge tan head, good retention. Aroma of coconut, chocolate, tonka, vanilla, roast malts. Taste is very sweet, intense coconut and chocolate, tonka, vanilla, roast malts, boozy, warming. Full bodied, soft carbonation, thick creamy mouthfeel, smooth. Imperial Tonkoko was a nice improvement over the original, Empress is on another level above that. Fantastic stuff.
