Our Urgose is the revival of the old Märzen-Gose tradition, but with new twists: to the traditional barley, wheat and oat malts and coriander we add Swiss Stone Pine cones, fine Ceylon Cinnamon, and smoked salt from the thousand-year-old Halle saltworks near the brewery. Finally, extra doses of aromatic Hallertauer Perle and bittering Taurus hops round out this unique Märzen-Gose. This seasonal specialty is brewed only once a year and is available regularly in February.

Poured orange brown yellow from bottle, if that's a thing. Anyway it was like the others of the genre, slightly maltier. Pretty good.

500mL bottle, best before December 2018, from the cooler, drunk 8/29/22. Clear, amber-brass. Large, butter-colored, off-white head is large, steadily fizzling out to a somewhat dense cover. Very wine-like in the nose, though not from prune/plum/raisin, but rather an elegant, refined acidity reminiscent of the boisterous red fruit of an Austrian red. Jammy almost with big strawberry and raspberry. Must be the coriander and pine mixing with the normal yeast character. Whatever the case, it's fantastic, clean and aromatic. Soft, succulent, malty and rich with good attenuation and even better acidity on the finish. Coriander further dries things out at length, while the boisterous red fruit and playful acidity, still reminiscent of an Austrian red wine, lingers. Don't get traditional smokiness, but you can tell it's there if you look for it (more in the peppery phenol undertones). Just an incredible balance to both malt, lactic acid and adjunct with no big pininess, nor overabundance of coriander. This is some pretty god damned special stuff and now I want to try all of their beers and visit their brewery.

Bottle 0.5l. Cloudy, pale amber colored. AROMA- salty, toasted malts, something citrusy, herbs, slight touch of smoke. FLAVOR- a bit sour, lightly salty, neutral, slightly bitter, salt, apricot, citrusy, herbs, slight touch of smoke again, touch of pine? Medium bodied. Very good.

500ml bottle. Clear orangey golden / pale amber colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish malty, slightly tangy, lactic and minimally smoky and herbal aroma, hints of smoked salami, salted yoghurt. Taste is mildly tart, fruity, salty, tangy, slightly smoky, subtle malt sweetness, notes of salted lemon, a touch of lime, coriander, some yoghurt, quince. Good.

Tap at Malý/Velký. Orange-golden hazy body, off white head. Lacto-driven aroma, touch of orange, er... pine. Err, right, agree fully with Gurthnar here - no way in hell am I tasting half the ingredients here. But the pinecones (?!) seem to have left some pine-like notes. The taste is entirely lacto-driven, quite lean and tart, but there's a sweetish undertone there, again, the pine touch. At least, I guess it's that, similar to what I got from some spruce beers. A fun experiment by all means, even though it ended up being slightly more classic then I guess they hoped it would end up.
