Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Dark gold with a decent white head. This one had a nice balance to it. Some biscuit quality to the malt with citrus and a decent bitter kick. Medium bodied.

Handpull cask at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Brownish gold and clear with no head. Gentle hop aromas of stone fruit alongside lightly malted bread and iced tea. Sweet fruit character turning bitter toward the finish. Bittering hops impart some peach flavour in the aftertaste. A fairly basic little pale but an enjoyable one.

Cask at Five Lamps, Derby Pours a golden yellow with a small white head – and very little lacing. Nose is vaguely lemony, but in the mouth a more complex sweetness evolves. Marmalade, grapefruit and oranges, but with an oily hop bitterness underneath. Finish is orange and hoppy. I wouldn’t call this an IPA by any stretch of the imagination – not enough hops. Nice enough but not one of the brewery’s best. One of the session drinker methinks.
