Reintroduced two years ago by local maltster, Crisp Malt, five preserved Chevallier seeds were re-sown and crops harvested to create the volume required to replicate a traditional Greene King real ale from the 1800s. Vintage Fine Ale is a rich, flavoursome beer, enhanced by biscuity notes from Amber malt with a hint of caramel. Classic English late hopping varieties Fuggle, Bramling Cross and Goldings add soft fruits, floral and spicy notes to create this rich, complex and full-bodied Vintage Fine Ale.

568 ml bottle, what an odd bootle size. Are there still countries that doesn't use the metric system? What dark places... Anyway, poured into a Snifter. Lovely amber colour with a creamy, fluffy off-white head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts and nuts. Fruits and a floral bitterness. Drying fruity finish. Nice one.

Imperial pint bottle (568ml), at home on 25th May 2018. Really enjoyed this, bronze hue to the amber body, full off-white crown on top. Biscuity malts in both the nose and semi-sweet taste, light fruity flavours also, finish has a mild bitterness. One of Greene King's better beers.

Bottle at home. A great pour with a huge pillowy head that lasted and lasted. A rich malty and yeasty flavour with some balancing bittering hops. The alcohol was definitely there and it was tasty. Greene King - Please try more of these as this was great.

Clear deep amber colour, huge creamy beige head, slowly collapsing, fair lacing. Aroma sweet malts, grain, biscuit, light caramel, fruity notes. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, toffee, fruity notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, burnt caramel, earthy touch, peppery notes at the end. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, well-balanced and tasty, good.

Bottle, gift from the outlaws - cheers! Deep amber with a thick yellowy- beige head and possibly just a touch too much fizz. Rich, sweet malt with light toffee, biscuit and a touch of red wine. Wheat chaff in the dry, mildly bitter finish. Enjoyed this, as did my father-in-law (despite him normally being a lager man). GK's core range may be decidedly sub-par, but they do seem to do well with their stronger traditional ales.

Bottle from Tesco. Deep copper in colour, with a tight and frothy white head. Aroma of raisins, leafy hops and sweet malts. Flavour had caramel, berry fruits, some yeasty and bredy grains, leading to a slight earthiness and pleasantly bitter finish. An enjoyable strong ale.
