Our Cornish interpretation of a ‘Saison’ or ‘Farmhouse Ale’ traditionally produced on the farms of southern Belgium. It is brewed with a blend of barley, wheat and oat malts, then gently spiced with ginger, lemon and lime zest. It has a hint of cinnamon and is fermented with a special strain of ‘saison’ yeast to deliver a beer that is assertive but refreshing with a peppery spice and a refreshing citrus finish.

Spritziger, trocke herb-hefiger Beginn. Starke Karbonisierung, bitter-kräutriger Mittelteil, erfrischend aber nicht übermäßig süffig. Trocken hefig, mittellanger Abgang, etwas brotig. 9/10/11/9/8/10

Bottle. Tesco. Just about clear, green tinged gold. Thick, lasting, bright white foam. Nose has yeasty bread. Dough. Banana sweets. Dried herb. Taste is bready and sweet, with a herbal, peppery bitterness. Medium body. Foamy carbonation. Gets dry and bitter toward the finish. Ok.

Bottle at home picked up from Tesco Watford. A almost clear pale gold coloured pour with a big rocky white head. Aroma is earthy grains, sweet straw, clove. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, hay, straw, under fermented, worty grains, numbing spice, clove, pinch of salt. Palate is soft semi sweet, spicy tickle, highish carbonation . Little metalic flavour lingering in the finish. Not a fan.

330ml bottle: BBE Nov 19. Poured into a Leffe chalice at home on 15th Feb 19. Clear golden body, fast disappearing wispy head. Fairly sweet for the style and very little 'farmyard' smells or tastes; no horse blanket or manure esters or flavours (thank goodness). Light spicy and yeasty hints within the nose and mouth, I liked it.

[33cl bottle from Beer 52.] A bright straw coloured pour with a thin white head and gentle carbonation; floral aroma with some pepper in the background; bittersweet herbal taste; with a dry floral finish. Definitely a touch of the countryside about this beer.

330ml bottle. Pours a misty gold, thin white head. Aroma is prominent spice, citrus. Taste has an initial hit of spice consisting of cardamom, black pepper and root ginger with some soothing citrus and peppery yeast. No doubt a saison in the true sense, displaying a confident spicy character and lightly fuzzy feel. Refreshing and flavoursome.
