A rich dark ale, with an underlying maltiness, and a subtle fruit aroma, ideal for keeping the chill of Winter at bay. The roasted barley and pale chocolate malt give a deep red hue, the hop combination of Progress, Styrian Goldings and Cascade create bitterness with a soft spicy yet fruity edge.

Bottle from the Old Shambles Tavern. Appearance - near as dammit opaque black with an attractive slightly off white head. Nose - treacle, rich bready notes. Taste - molasses, tea-loaf, raisins, prunes. Palate - at least medium bodied with a big rich middle section and a rich but drying enough finish. Overall - this is good. Best from these guys.
