440 ml can, canned 25 Sep 18 Pitch black body, with a medium, creamy, dark coffee-colored head. Aroma of espresso, dark chocolate, soy sauce, liquorice, molasses, chocolate fudge. Tastes similar, with a moderate booze. Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes warm, roasty, medium bitter, subtly sweet, wooden, with coffee, soy sauce, liquorice, dark chocolate. Tasty! Big, straight and robust, with lovely roast and dark chocolate notes and a subtle, oily sweetness. Really well balanced, smooth to drink for the strength, with just enough alcohol. Great Imperial Stout without gimmicks! Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 17

Can. Nose is chocolate, soy, salt, hint of ash. Taste is salt, soy, licorice, prunes, herbal hop note, chocolate, vanilla, chocolate ice cream, ash, toffee, hint of whisky and peat, hazelnut, almost sour note in the dry, bitter finish. For some reason I didn't review the 2017 edition when I had it last year, so my only notes are from 2014, I think this might be a little more hop forward

Can from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham and shared with the Bangkok crew. Poured a clear dark brown colour, with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is rich roasty malt, light caramel, boozy, liqouirce alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, liqouirce bitter with a smooth, rich, roasty, liqouirce, light charcoal, light chocolate, coffee vanilla, warm boozy alcohol bitter palate and a lingering liqouirce bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Opaque. Almost black. Good head of tan colour. Nose: roasted malts, earth, ground coffee, molasses, a shade of smoke. Medium to full body. Taste: not that sweet, fairly roasty and hoppy. Coffee, earth, molasses, citrusy bitterness. Nice impy.

Can picked up from Buxton Brewery online shop. Consumed at home Saturday 24th November 2018 whilst cooking Chicken Kiev with Watercress and Stilton Pours as 'black as yer’ ’at, with a large toffee coloured head. A bit of creamy vanilla, chocolate and coffee on nose. It's got a bit of warmth from the abv. Its a very good beer but bettered by the Kentucky Woods that I had from them recently.
