Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - dark brown to black and opaque. Nose - earthy, undergrowth and a hint of berry. Taste - creamy earth and dark berries again. Smoky malty finish. Palate - creamy and medium bodied. Overall - not sure it's a black IPA. Good beer though.

9th Nov 2018, 500ml bottle at home into an Abbot Ale glass tankard to accompany a really hot Chicken Jalfrezi (not an ideal choice). Enjoyed both the beer and the curry but they didn't gel. Anyway, back to the beer; poured a very dark brown, almost black in fact, wispy tanned head. Malty little number with only a slight hop presence within the aroma and taste. Roasted/toasted maltiness dominated the brew and without the curry I would have really taken to it. Scored as if I hadn't eaten with the beer.

Black with thin head. Aroma has some nice malt notes with liquorice sweetness. Roasted bitterness too.

50cl bottle from Aldi, Bracknell. A cola coloured pour with a loose white head; citrus aroma; pleasant citrusy taste with a background of well toasted grains. Rather good.

Bottle from Beers of Europe [261216]
Black, ruby edges, thin head
Aroma of soft dark malts, roasted barley, no fruity hops
Taste of roasted malts, touch of citrus zest, odd plastic note
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body, soft bitter. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - Poor example of a Black IPA, little fruity hops. I got tired of this, most of it was thrown out

Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants, Mill Road. Dark brown, almost black, with a small off-white head. Salted caramel, chocolate malt and seawater aroma. Pleasant but confused. Sweet taste of roasted malt with a salty note. Nicely balanced carbonation. Hmmm. Not sure about this one. Interested but unfocused.

Bottle split at LKS 15K Tasting, thanks to Kenny, 02/11/15. Dark mahogany brown with a decent tan covering. Nose is earthy, charr, spice, biscuit, toffee. Taste comprises faint pine needle, dark malt, toffee, light roast, earthy hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, seim drying close. Drinkable but pedestrian for style.

Bottle shared at the #LKS15k tasting at craft beer co. Thanks. Chestnut brown coloured pour with a loose light tan head. Aroma is nutty, berry, coco, parma violets. Flavour is composed of light nutty, light dark malts, metalic, grainy, pine and grassy hop. Palate is light moderate carbonation. Firm bitterness. Decent.

2nd November 2015
Craft Clerkenwell. LKS 15K bash. Clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest carbonation. Thin dark malts, trace of roast bitterness. Mild floral hop bitterness. Touch of tangy fruits. Light semi dry finish. A bit of a plain Jane, but inoffensive.
