South Frodingham, the home of our brewery, was historically known as Frothingham after the village’s main family. With a name like that, brewing was inevitable!

Cask at the Hanilton Hall, JDW - London. Pours clear gold with a lasting, creamy white head. The nose holds bready male, some ripening citrus fruits, flourishes of berries. Light-medium sweet flavor with relaxed leafy bitterness some dried grains, leathery berries. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced finish with further bready malt sugars, lightly bitter leaves, mellow fruits. An altogether acceptable bitter.

Cask at The York Tap. Pours clear copper, little to no head. No carbonation. Aromas of biscuit, bread. Taste is sweet, very light herbal tickle at the end. Pretty boring brown booze.

Cask @ Golden Pheasant, Biggleswade. Light thin brown colour. Malty, raisin aroma, not very strong. Taste is very agreeable: sweet fruit rounding to bitter edges. A well made and moreish best bitter, a good representative of the style.

On tap at the Cask and Barrel. Appearance - amber with a nice head. Nose - malt and resin. Taste - toffee some biscuits but slight astringency. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a slightly astringent finish. Overall - solid but not special.

Cask at Pipe and Glass, South Dalton. Was looking forward to this, as other beer from this brewery I’ve usually liked a lot. But this was a bit heavy going. Like drinking a dry hunk of unbuttered granary bread. And that’s not easy.
