Cask at the George, Croydon. It pours pretty dark reddish brown with a medium bubbly light tan head. The aroma is sweet, oily, rather spicy, rye bread, leather, varnish, brown bread and toffee. The taste is dry, bitter-sweet, oily, resinous, varnish, brown bread, spicy rye, pithy grapefruit and some toasted sesame seed with a drying finish. Lighter end of medium body and soft, but foamy carbonation. Decent example of the style.

A really decent red ale. Hoppy, malty with a dash of citrus and the hit of the really makes it feel like a proper red. Crisp, sharp and tasty. Up to Oakham's high standards.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Copper-red, but more of the former, with a head. It’s quite striking with its rye in both aroma and flavour, but not overbearing enough to make it unpalatable.
