Pigs Ear after party at Chez Smith. Light haze on this amber beer, tidy cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth thin malts, lightly caramel with a little toffee. Tangy ripe red fruits followed by sherry red wine. Light finish leaves a spicy linger. Very nice.

Bottle at LKS - big thanks to Kenny! It pours deep red - brown with a small beige head. The aroma is fresh, bright, juicy, tangy, jammy fruits, vinous, vanilla, oak and Victoria sponge. The taste is dry, vinous, juicy, oily, jammy, Victoria sponge cake, fruit compote, grape action, oak and some boozy warmth with a dry, vinous finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Plenty of depth and well - rounded. Pretty delicious stuff.

Bottle picked up from Beer Revolution, Hay on Wye, Powys, Wales, consumed at home Thursday 4th January 2018 in the company of Isobel. Pours rich dark brown with very good clarity and a little ruby red hue. Much like the bourbon and also the traditional version (as I recall) there is lots of wood on the nose and honts of vanilla. The barrel ageing does a lot towards soften this beer otherwise it would be far tarter than it is. Tangy, fruity, with that usual hint of balsamic showing, the nod to a Flemish Brown shows again, it's good but I am not totally wowed and I am not as yet picking up the individual barrel characteristics.
