A fruity and malty chestnut coloured ale. The warmth and flavour are derived from the crystal and chocolate malt combined with traditional English hops.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before 23 June 2010, drank and reviewed 27 Mar 2010. Poured into a vase shaped pint glass. Semi dark, reddy, amber in colour, no head, just a mini wisp of white bubbles with a thin collar. Malted biscuits came to mind as I stuck my nose into the glass, some aromatic hop hints too. The taste was malty, pleasant and sweet for an English Bitter. The alcohol hides behind the sweetness, but sneaks up on you as the beer is consummed. Very drinkable, never heard of the brewery before, I hope I meet them again. Pity the beer didn’t manage to produce a head.

@ Raven, Bath. Bright golden-amber. The aroma is fruity-berryish with a hint of caramel. Character is lightly toasty, lightly metallic with caramelly notes. OK, quite malt-accented.

50cl bottle from Sainsburys. Copper with a loose white head; tarry, fruity aroma; sharp fruity flavour, soft, soapy mouth-feel, followed by a short bitter burst, then a gentler malty finish. A good bitter.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Yep it’s a pretty decent brown bitter. Some yeast character on aroma, some malty fruit. Bit lacking in body in the middle. Short lived bitterness on the finish. Aroma is ok, but then it fades after that.

500ml bottle found at Sainsbury’s. Looks very good, nice fluffy head, nice amber colour. Some scents of hops and malts on the nose, a little woodiness, but nothing too strong. Flavour is definitely watery, which I don’t like, but also has a good combination of hops and malts, more on the malty side, some nutty hints in there. Decent mouthfeel. Not a bad bitter at all.

Bottle purchased at Sainsburys, Kidlington, Oxon and consumed in a field at Towersey, Oxfordshire, 30-08-09 Pours amber with off-white head. Nice fruity beer with some reasonable bitterness, in fact getting slightly more bitters as it slips down. Bit malty and hops are noticeable, decent beer. A6 A3 F7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Bottle from Sainsburys. Copper coloured, with a slight white head and moderate carbonation. Caramel, malty aroma with some earthiness. Flavour was fruity, with a hint of chocolate and bittering hop finish. Good.

bottle, bought somewehre in rural Devon. Clear chestnut-amber colour, mid-sized beige head. Malty-hoppy nose. Light to medium-bodied, solid malty base with a good portion of bitter and aromatic hops. Very slightly fruity. A nice one.
