Lightfoot is named after a brewery in Masham which Theakston took over in 1919. The Lightfoot and Theakston families were very close and indeed linked through marriage and therefore it was a natural amalgamation of two well-established businesses. For many years it was rumoured that Theakston took over Lightfoot because they had a better cricket team something that was deemed unacceptable to the brewers in Red Lane! Lightfoot has always been a popular seasonal ale in fact so much so that in 2010 it became a permanent addition to our range and is now available all year round. It's light, fruity flavour makes it an ideal accompaniment to light curries, seafood dishes and summer salads or on a hot summer’s day perfect just on its own!

Bottle. A lighlty hazy beer topped by a small, white head. It’s lightly fruity on the nose, piney and with some butterscotch notes. It’s fruity and lightly flowery and grassy on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Medium body. Some bitterness, especially towards the end. Nothing special going on here. It’s not off in any way, but it’s not very interesting either. 140815

Pale golden color, small white head. Rough woody hoppy aroma, not very strong. Light bodied. Starts watery, with light fruity notes. Finish has sticky woody hoppyness. Like name says: lightfoot. Almost like a lager.

500ml bottle. Pale yellow straw colour, foamy white head and malty yeasty aroma. Taste is biscuity caramel with light malt and a lingering dry bitterness, also abit of residual sweetness. Quite drinkable.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.1%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of fruity, grassy and herbal hops. Refreshing flavour, medium sweet, herbal notes. A beer for a warm summer’s day. In a blind test I might mistake it for a pilsener.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a frothy, white foam head. Aroma holds some biscuity pale malts, light dough and toasted hay. Light to medium sweet flavor, lots of biscuity malts, some pale bread and light dough, grainy and dirty hay, faint citrus licks. Light bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Crisp finish, some dirty straw, faint grass, dry biscuits. Very smooth-drinking beer.

500ml bottle - light golden colour, white frothy head soon dissipated away to a coating. The aroma is floral, a bit of a feint malt in there, with the first taste soft and fruity - not sure which, but I’m torn between nectarine or mandarin. The body is slick, smooth, with a little bitter after kick. Not Theakston’s best, but it is good.
