Bottle at home, darker almost black beer, small head. Aroma is malt, raisins, fruit, dark ripe fruit, hint of Armagnac. Taste is the same, bittersweet, vinous, some wood, very nice

Bière 50 cl ramenée de l'abbaye de Chimay. Très belle robe dense et fines bulles. Nez sur le fût, le bois. Bouche boisée, intense, complexe, notes de fruits secs. Très réussie !

A dark brown beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has dark dried fruitness, prune, raisin, also notes of fresher perry. Aroma has prune, raisin, some barrel, still some notes of fresh fruitness. Medium+ bodied. That fresher fruitness, which is propably from Armagnac, makes this more interesting and fresher.

375 ml corked & caged bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 10.5%. Mahogany colour, large to moderate off-white head. Aroma of dust, oak, armagnac and mild spices. Fizzy mouthfeel. Rich flavour with distinct notes of oak and armagnac, also brown kandij sugar, vanilla, dark dried fruits and mild spices.

0.375 l bottle from 'Drinks & Gifts', bottled in February 2020. Probably clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, slightly fluffy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity, moderately yeasty-spicy aroma of dark ripe fruits, brandy, light marzipan, a touch of molasses and hints of vanilla. Quite sweet, malty, gently fruity and slightly yeasty-spicy taste of prunes, figs, raisins, some brandy, light marzipan, a touch of vanilla and traces of molasses, followed by a medium long, minimally bitter, gently yeasty-spicy, slightly woody and a little boozy finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. I'm always excited to try a new variant of barrel-aged Chimay Bleue, and every time I'm a little disappointed. It's tasty, it's well-balanced, but the flavours are a bit too subdued for my liking, just like the base beer. At least it's less pricy than the La Trappe Oak Aged Quad variants.

Courtesy of yngwie Pours hazy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, yeast, alcohol, dried fruits and wood. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, caramel, yeast, hint of banana and dried fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle, 75cl corked. An unclear amber colored beer with a dense beige head leaving lacing. The aroma has a light alcohol touch, with dried fruits, caramel, bread notes, wooden hints, some booze and a faint spiced hint. It's full-bodied, nicely carbonated, with a certain warmth and some tannins. The flavor is quite fruity, banana, grass, apple, with caramel, bread and a pleasant woody, boozy hints. 75cl bottle from Comptoir des Fagnes beer store in Belgium at the Zichovec barrel tasting. F: big, egg-white, long lasting. C: brown, hazy. A: sweet mellow fruity, banana, caramel, cherries, bit raisins, nutty touch. T: full malty base, mellow caramel fruity, bit violet, red wine touch, woody, banana, brown bread, medium carbonation, very good yet not great as I expected.

Bottle at the Zichovec barrel tasting. Full body, high carbonation. Lots of sweetness and caramelly malt character, subtle spicy phenolics, light banana too. Good, intense, but basically just another strong Chimay. Good but not great.
