500 ml clear bottle, from Tesco Express, Belfast. ABV is 6.5%. Beautiful brownish-red colour, moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of lightstruck hops, oak, toffee and caramel. Medium sweet flavour of malts, caramel and oak. Too modest hops. No masterpiece.

2016 catch up - I got the temperature just right and the flavour was excellent. Malt, oak and a very nice level of bitterness. The alcohol was well hidden and there was a very nice mouthfeel. I like this a lot.

Sandy coloured creamy head left a cover on a translucent mahogany coloured, effervescent body. Big aroma of malt & berries. Medium bodied, smooth on palate & prickly on the back - just like an English Bitter should be. Malty with vanilla & a nutty edge to the fore with a long bitter aft of berries & general tanginess.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol October 2016. Amber in colour with a moderately sized, off-white, head. Aroma of red fruits, oak, booze and leafy hops. Flavour was sweetish with caramel, more fruit, chewy malts and a moderately bitter and warming finish. Fine.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW - London. Pours clear copper with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Toasty bread in the nose, with suggestions of caramel and ripe berries. Light-medium sweet flavour with sturdy earthy bitterness, more bread, toffee, old leathery fruits, dates. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. A little sticky on the finish, with more ripe berries, brown bread, some fruitcake. Not bad.

Flavour is composed of medium sweet layered malts, unrefined sugars, burnt toffee and treacle. Some tangy fruit cake vibes. Palate is medium sweet, tangy, warming alcohol. Medium bodied. Lingering harsh. Solvent alcohol, rum.
