Ruby pour, big frothy white head. Lovely sherry, sweet caramel, bready malty nose. Nice carbonation, solid mouthfeel. Semi bitter, dry finish. Subtle grassy hops, get lost in the really nice malts. A nice winter ale.

Bottle @ home. Clear brownish amber body under a small, fast disappearing tan head. Aroma of malt, bead and dry fruit. Taste is sweet caramel malt, some bread, hint of toast, some dry fruit and moderate bitterness. Balanced body with a sweet, malt based aftertaste. Not particular complex, but solid and well made, classic Scottish ale. Rather easy drinkable actually.

[50cl bottle from the Co-op, Bearsden.] A dark chestnut brown pour with a ring of white head; fruity malt aroma with a little spice; sweet malty taste with some raisins and dates to finish. An old-school heavy.
