Mills Brewing patiently make complex and nostalgic beers with their house blend of yeast and bacteria. Here, we got together to use BOXCAR's house blend of yeasts to create another nostalgic style, a Best Bitter.

Fruit flavours from the yeast, toffee and honey sweetness, balanced with large amounts of Goldings hops.

Can thanks to my bro. It pours lightly hazy orangey - brown with a small white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, leafy hops, grass, tangy orange marmalade, brown bread, hint of mint and a touch of almond biscotti. The taste is drying, bitter, toothy, leafy hops, dry grass, spicy, woody, leather, brown bread, touch of tannin, touch if orange marmalade brown bread sandwiches and rivita with a drying finish. Average body and fine+ carbonation. Has a bit more depth than the standard bitter.

440ml can online from Hop, Burns & Black, Peckham Rye. Pours lightly hazed mid brown with an off white cap. Aroma: sweet grains, cereal malts, bread, nutty hints. Taste: light to moderate sweet & moderate bitter, cereal, bread, hay, spicy hop. Light to medium body with fine, creamy carbonation. A fine modern interpretation of the style.

440ml can. Smooth, soft and biscuity malty with hints of toffee, citrus, grass, pine, hay and floral notes. Soft, balanced and easy going, but quite tasty.

Can. Beer Ritz. Light to medium haze, on a pale amber. Fine and messy white head sticks to the glass. Nose has fruity, nutty grain. Hint of rich honey. Some spicy hop. Touch of ripe citrus. Background yeasty notes are bready and fruity. Smells great. Taste is pretty bitter and a little spicy. Modicum of biscuit sweetness. Light to medium body. Fine carbonation. Robust bitterness to finish. Reminds the missus of Whim Hartington IPA drawn from the barrel in the cellar at the Barley Mow at Kirk Ireton. Which is high praise indeed.
