Wittekerke Wild combines the styles of Witbier and Sour Ale: in a new technique, the microflora of the oak foeders used for Petrus sour ales is harvested and then used in the first fermentation of Wittekerke Wit. The result is a unique balance of wit beer and sour styles. It pours a hazy straw color with a white head. Aromas of tart lemon and citrus with grainy malt, oak, and earth. Taste is similar – moderately tart with green apple, coriander, and some peppery yeast.

Half liter can from Downer Avenue Spirits. Sightly hazy amber, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of tart lemon and wheat. The taste is apple juice, lemon, wheat. Thin, mildly tart. Faint tannins. Okay.

Bottle at PIB 2017, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out light funk, coriander and fluffy wheat. Flavour is similar, with light coriander, citrus and wheaty notes. Refreshing and clean enough. Decent.

Sample at the Platform Columbus taproom during "The Power Of Sour" event on 05/06/2017. The beer is a cloudy pale yellow color with a thin white head that recedes quickly to a film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, yeast and wheat. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal wheat, lemon, yeast and malt. The finish is wheaty with a sour fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can from Brewers Haven. Hazy golden body with scant ring of white head. Yeasty, tart aroma. Taste follows with the mild tartness, and yeasty notes. Light, subdued for the style, but acceptable for the wide distribution.
