Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen “Speling van het Lot” (Twist of Fate) is a series of small batch experimental brews, barrel maturations, fruit macerations and/or blends. This 9th version features a range of strawberry maceration iterations aiming at balancing the
intense fruitiness of strawberries with the subtleties of traditional lambic while minimising the unpleasant phenolic characteristics of the small pits. For this fruit lambic
we barrel macerated sour cherries on a previous barrel macerated strawberry lambic (featured in the ToF IX.viii). The proportion is 70% strawberries to 30% sour cherries, while the final intensity is 462 grams of fruit per liter of finished fruit lambic. Additional maceration
took another 4 months, and while blending, we primed with fresh wort instead of refined sugar.

Sample courtesy of Cheeseboard, cheers Simon! Hazed orangey gold colour, white foam head and aroma of strawberry, cherry, funky. Taste is tart, jammy strawberry, redcurrant, sour cherries, with citric rind, funky, and alittle dank hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying soured lingering berry & funk finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle from 3F. Poured hazy red with a huge white foam. Aroma: bright, funky, strawberry, redcurrant, milder sour cherry. Taste: crisp, dry, moderate acidic, sherbet, strawberry, jammy. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Tidy.

Bottle. Unclear reddish color with off-white head. Aroma is big strawberries, leather funk, dash of cherries. Taste is strawberry jam, but all the Lambic leather and barn there too, minerals, good puckering, dry finish. Silky mouthfeel, mineraly bite, soft carbonation. Very good, nice strawberry integration without becoming too acidic.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Murky brown colour with a small quickly disappearing head. Aroma is tart wood, some yeast, earth. Flavour is tart wood, some yeast and nicely sweetish malts with some earthy elements.

Bottle from 3F, shares at Rich's. It pours hazy red with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, zingy, bright, rise, floral, redcurrant, red grape, juniper, funk, sweat, light vanilla and candied peel. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, zingy, rose, red grape, granny smith apple, minerality, sherbet, cranberry, puckering, splash of acidity, loads of red berry, strawberry, cranberry, sweaty funk, hay and a touch of jam. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Bright and zingy vibe. Moreish.

ABV: 5.9%. Hazy medium amber yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, moderate yeasty, barnyard, strawberries - cherries - red berries, light funk. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, tart, strawberry, cherry, red berry, wood - oak, fnuky, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20210925]
