This is our Rye Pale Ale, 30% of grist is Malted Rye a huskless grain which lends a distinctive nutty malt flavour. We’ve kept kettle hopping to a minimum to let the Rye flavour shine and dry hopped to give spicy orange aromatics.

On tap @Mad for Beer (Rome). Pours amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, resin, citrus, orange zest, good. Flavour is well balanced, malty at first, rye, good bitter end. The body is a bit thin for a rye pale ale standard, but it’s a good beer.

Bottle at home split with grumpy Sarah. Aroma is light caramel , spicy rye bread with some sweet berry and raisin cake. A little toast on the nose as well. Mostly clear orange, light amber coloured pour with a lasting thin cream white head. Flavour is perhaps past its best, but still pretty good. toast and caramel nutty malts, with berry, strawberry hop, with a little earthy note. Rye is nicely blanced and plays nicely with the rest of the beer. Palate is grainy cereal, moderate to high carbonation. Lingering nutty malts with berry hop. Nice clean ferment.

Bottle at home. It pours cloudy orange-amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is earthy, pine, varnish, rye bread, orange, peach and marmalade. The taste is bitter, pine, varnish, peppery spice, earth, brown bread, resin, grapefruit, orange peel, marmalade and sherbet with a bitter, faintly citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well balanced, tasty and rather drinkable. Another winner from Tempest.
