Quite bitter, but low hops aromatics, actually almost none. Very assertive roast though, lots of coffee and chocolate. Basically a stout, this is. But a good one. Nice even if confusing.

On tap at Purkmister Sun in a Glass Bierfest, Purkmister brewpub, Plzeń, Friday 19th September 2025 after a walk from our campsite at Škodaland Plzeń into the city then back out after a couple of beers in the city. Pours dark brown edging towards black, peeling away to lighter brown at the edges after the off white head started to drift away. Roasty nose but also a little resinous. Roasty in the mouth, hoppy, streaky resinous, bitter, nice mouthfeel, it's a good beer.

Tap at Zlý Časy. Completely surprised I didn't have it before. Very dark brown, blackish body, thick, creamy beige head. Corree and orange notes in the aroma... dry malty, slightly roasty touches too... Coffee malty touches in the taste, bit lighter, citric and vaguely tropical undertones, okay, smooth, very much drinkable despite a lack of complexity.

# 564; 12/2016. Silně pražený pivo s krémovou konzistencí a pěknou hořkostí. Nižší pitelnost. Očekával jsem víc.

Draught at Zlý Časy. Very dark brown to black colored. AROMA- roasted malts, hop resins. FLAVOR- neutral, bitter, roasted malts and resins again. Medium to fuller bodied.
For me a bit insipid.

On tap at Francis, Retro Beer Bar, Plze?, Czech Republic. Milk chocolate, coffee, roasty. Smooth and silky, chocolate like mouthfeel, some coffee bitterness, very sophisticated. Medium body, light dry coffee finish with some chocolate sweetness. Excellent, but I’d say it’s an American stout, not India black ale.

Bottle(donated by the brewer!!!): Deep amber coloured with a reddish sheen, very stable off-white head, moderate to almost solid hoppy and roasty aroma; moderate - relatively dry - bitter-sweet flavour, quite light bodied, quite soft; slightly lingering fruity/toasty finish with a quite mild hoppy aftertaste. Nothing to complain…
