750mL bottle, batch 20, drunk 12/19/16.
Lightly gushing, pouring a deep maize-golden body, good clarity, leaving the sediment behind. Large white head is well-retained.
The nose smells strongly of honey mixed in with light hay, grass, herbs and soft, mineral-rich yeast influences. Enlightenment/Idle Hands has a great Belgian yeast character showing no banana or bubble gum and full of black pepper and mellow fruits and this one is no exception. This definitely has a lot of age on it and it even sat warm on the shelf. It’s impressive that all you get from the oxidation is just nuanced honey, which adds a good layer of complexity and doesn’t disrupt the beer at all.
In the mouth, it’s nicely dry but with succulent malts still adding a soft texture. Honey flavor, be it from the oxidation and/or clean malts is delightful and works well with the peppery phenols and soft, rustic character of the beer. Grass, herbs, fruity esters and tight carbonation make for a very drinkable experience. Excited for Ben’s return.

750ml, batch 15, bottle pours a hazy orange with some clumpy, lacing white head. Nose has a fair amount of soap, orange peel, some dusty hay, a little old couch. Flavor is soapy, astringent citrus peel, straw, a little herbal tea. Tannic, astringent finish.

Bottle courtesy of AirForcehops. Thanks for helping me get this one off my want list! Funky Belgian yeast, fruity bready malt and spicy floaral hops aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with a large creamy white head. Sweet fruity bready malt, Belgian yeast, and spicy grassy hops flavor. Medium creamy body, moderate carbonation, slightly dry finish. I will admit that this rating may have taken a hit since I had just previously rate Anchorage Bitter Monk.

750 ml bottle purchased @ Julio’s Liquors. Bright hazy yellow color with thick bubbly head. The nose is a nice mix of grassy and floral notes with a touch of yeast. Flavor is yeast upfront with the floral and grassiness hitting the back of your taste buds with medium amount of bitterness. Dry and crisp texture. Overall a nice hybrid style.

Bottle shared by Brian at tasting at my house. Pours cloudy grapefruit juice with white head. Nose and taste of orange zest, saison yeast, lemongrass and grapefruit rind/citrus. Medium body. Nice marriage of the two styles.
