Brewed in collaboration with Norway’s Lervig brewery, world leading imperial stout kings, this is a rich, velvety imperial stout brewed with munich, chocolate and dark crystal malts, plenty of oats, and a touch of lactose for enhanced mouthfeel. Over this robust base we added chocolate, vanilla and a touch of almond for truly decadent results.

Can 440ml. @ home. 🏡
[ As Northern Monk / Lervig Norse Star ].
ABV: 9.0%. Light cloudy dark black brown colour with a large, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, almonds, vanilla, cocoa, moderate roasted, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, vanilla, cocoa, almonds, chocolate, light marzipan. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy and smooth, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming. Together with marzipan this beer realy grows *

440ml can. Pitch black with a big tan head. Aroma of marzipan and chocolate. Taste is dominated by massive marzipan flavour, rich sweet chocolate, creamy vanilla/lactose, very sweet. Full bodied, smooth. Would've preferred more chocolate/vanilla myself rather than all that marzipan, but still, for a supermarket stout this is excellent, even after cheaping out and using essences instead of the real thing all the flavours are there.

440ml can from my local Morrison's: BB 20th Feb 2021. Poured (twice) into my Gordon's thistle shaped glass. Black with a good sized tanned topping on both pours. Rich, viscous and lovely, really enjoyed this as my nightcap, what a great, smooth Stout all round. Chocolate, vanilla, a little coffee and a trace of almonds within this malty brew.

Can. Morrison’s. Fucking mental this is a supermarket beer. You pay the same (four quid), for a half of something pale and boring at the NM tap. Mind you, this stinks. Booze and fudge. Easter egg chocolate. More booze. Sweet and rich. Some boozy bitterness. Soft carbonation. Tangy bitterness to finish. No finesse here.

Can from Morrisons, Inverurie. It opaque jet black with a thick deep tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, decadent, unctuous, cacao nibs, vanilla toffee, chocolate gateaux, coffee beans, nuttiness, marzipan and tar. The taste is slick, oily, rich, thick, sweet, sticky, vanilla ice cream, cacao nibs, chocolate cake, toothy, coffee cake, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, toasted nuts, marzipan, burnt toast, toffee, touch of spice, some jamminess and a slap of booze. Finish is both sweet and roasty. Fulsome body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Rich and fulsome. A dessert stout for sure, but there is plenty to it. I can't help but like it, even though it's not my usual jam.
