Draught @ La Capsule, Lille. Pours black with a loose bubbly head. Aroma of coconut, chocolate, herbal spice. A melange of flavours here, some less welcome than others, turmeric and lime seem at odds with the coconut and dark malt, with additional off-putting creamy notes. Seems to jar a bit for me.

44cl can, BB 01/02/2024.

A French Thai inspired beer, I guess folks are itching to travel! La Debauche Thai Cargo 11% Imperial Stout with Chili, lemongrass, lime, coconut, ginger, green pepper, turmeric. Deep ruby black with a seeet coconut and lemongrass Thai smoothie aroma. The full silky body gives you heat from the chili’s, citrus from the lime and lemongrass while you get earthiness and spice from the turmeric. You also get the sweet chocolatey stout and coconut though I don’t get the ginger. Quite like this.

28th November 2020 Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, a very mild dryness, decent superfine carbonation. Smooth and mellow dark malts, pleasant and light dark chocolate malt cream and a touch of smooth chocolate. I don't really get a coherent Thai vibe here but it's a very good try. Bright fruity lime integrates surprisingly well with the soft dark malts and is a nice reminder of the chocolate limes that were a childhood favourite. Smooth and sweet coconut and fruity galangal - ginger also work well. The lovely floral lemon of lemongrass also is yet another layer. The green chilly burns but to a pleasant degree for a beer, i.e., not too feckin much. It's a delightfully fruity and spicy Imperial Stout and I am sucking it down at a rate of knots. Why doesn't it quite hit the Thai mark when there are so many well integrated Thai ingredients here? Fish sauce. Some of that tangy salty stinky delight would have nailed It I believe, but that's easy for me to say, I ain't putting this complex Impy together. As it stands, it's a tasty multi layered Impy that is tremendously drinkable.

pitch black color. Off white head. Big dark chocolate, huge spiciness (chili peppers). Vanilla, cinnamon nose. Big spicy mouth, but lacks a bit of roastiness that I would usually like. Chocolate but I find this muddled with the spice dominating too much. Warming but not boozy. Not the best balance. Ok

Light body, coconut, smoked peppers, vineous/tannic finish? Weirdo but better at every sip? Ok tannic finish is the lime now that I see the ingredients, also all makes sense.
