[50cl bottle from Longacres, Bagshot.] A cola brown coloured pour with a ring of translucent head and low carbonation; toffee and malt aroma; sweet malty taste; and a dank vegetal bitterness; then some sweet chocolate to finish. Disappointing.

500ml bottle. Gluten Free. Ruby brown colour, tan foam head leaving lacing and aroma of malt, molasses, caramel. Taste is malty, roasted, brown sugar, molasses, dark fruity, chocolate with earthy nutty bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry dusty roasty bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Bottle from ASDA, Telford. Copper-red with no head. Sweetened bitter with a few malts, and quite a tasty one.

Bottle at home – originally from stall at Macclesfield Treacle Market The overwhelming impression of this is fruit ! It comes through strongly on the nose, where apple and raspberry predominate. Pours dark red brown, but clear with minimal head. Even more fruit in the taste, raspberries again, but also plums, blackberries and gooseberries. Curiously the finish reminds me very much of Wine Gums ! Not the kind of beer I normally go for, but very nice indeed.

Bottle from one of the supermarkets. Poured a clear reddish dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is sweet roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a slightly watery malt, bed berry fruit, light spice hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Appearance- very dark ruby/brown. A beige head which lingers. Aroma- toasty, nutty, hint of brown sugar, malty, yeast hints, wholemeal bread. Taste- medium to full bodied, not much bitterness, smooth, dark malty taste is prominent, then sweet raisins come through in the finish. Hints of toffee and caramel. Satisfying and a bit hearty- very good.

500ml bottle, to be drank before the end of Jun 2009, drank on the 16th (Jun 2009), so two weeks life remained. Bottle conditioned and to be drank at 13 degrees C. Poured into a UK pint glass, leaving the sediment in the bottle. Lovely looking beer, deep ruby red, clear and bright, huge foaming head, light tan in colour. Malts and un-sweet molasses hit the nose. Then the sweetness of the molasses come to the fore as the beer warms a little. Malty, yeasty and interesting taste. Chocolate, dark chocolate anyway and liquorice flavours blend together nicely. Not as rich as I’d expected, but OK, a little thin if I’m being honest. Very pleasant beer from a fairly local brewery
