Not for the faint hearted, The Good the Bad and the Drunk does what it says on the label. So beware! Tawny in color, full bodied with a fruity bitter sweet flavour, hints of caramel and a satisfyingly fruity aftertaste.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. I probably shouldn’t be reviewing this because the beer I was served was very cloudy. The brewer confirms this was NOT intentional, and probably caused by being put on sale before it was ready. However, it tasted OK, so I will add it with a note to Rerate. As I said poured an almost murky dark chestnut with minimal beige head. Aroma of boozy ripe fruit. In the mouth had a creamy texture with sweetness provided by caramel, and sharpenss of autumn fruits with hints of malts, spices and apples. The finish has fruits and grain. Quite nice – but needs a rerate as stated above.

Cask 1/3 pint at the 46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 2019. ABV 6.2%. Tawny colour, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and ripe dark fruits. Slightly sweet flavour, caramel and ripe dark fruits again, a moderate bitterness in the finish.

Cask at NWAF, Derby, Thursday, 18th February 2016 Good bitterness and a pleasantly fruity beer, quite a malty number, a touch of biscuit and bread. This drinks a lot easier than the abv might suggest. I didn?t mind this at all. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Gravicask at the Bricklayers Arms Derby Beer Fest. It pours deep amber, with a thin off-white film. The nose is wood, ciabatta, oily, caramel, light sourness and dried fruit. The taste is sweet, oily, fig, raisin, oak, caramel, light spice and big alcohol warmth, with a long dry finish. Medium to full body, soft carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Decent.

Gravity cask at the Bricklayers Derby BF, London. Pours rich amber-red with a slight, white film. Heavy sugar nose, slight ripe fruits, toast and leaves. Very sweet flavor, ripe fruits galore, toasty sugars, cake. Medium to full bodied with a fine, vinous texture. Mild warm finish, sugar, some berries, faint bitterness. Very good.
