The natural daughter of Saint Landelin, the DIVINE is a golden beer named after the beatified founder of Crespin Abbey, known from the Middle Ages.

As golden as her eldest is blond, as sweet and generous as her eldest is fruity and lively, the Divine is positioned as a true Grand Cru from the Holy Landelin.

A lightly hazed amber ale with a thick lacing off white head. A rather restrained candi sugar aroma, with light curacao notes. In mouth, a rather simple belgian ale with light curacao, fruity notes, caramel, light hopping and warming alcohol. Decent but non descript for the style. Bieropholie import, BB 28-05-10.

750 ml bottle from Gomers North. Best before 05.28.09 stamped on label. This was on sale for $3.99 if I recall correctly. Pour is clear golden with a lot of carbonation and a billowing 3 inch off white head. Head is quite lasting. Some nice full lacing. Aroma of oft caramel sweet malt, floral spice earthiness and an extra dose of honey sweetness. All of it is quite soft and refined. Taste is the nose, predominantly the sweet malt, though the floral earthy spice yeast characteristics add a lot of flavor in the back. There is also an apple and pear fruitiness that adds complexity. As it warmed, some peanut shell presented itself. Palate is medium, smooth and slick. Well carbonated with a longish somewhat unclean finish. Nice enough, though I am admittedly still figuring BdG out. Highlight of this beer was the view of downtown Denver at night from the balcony of the Warwick.

Golden beer with medium white head. Lot of grass, some sweetness and parfum-like flowerness are found in the aroma. Flavour is slightly sweet that turns more dry in the end, slightly spicy, yeasty and sophisticated parfym and flowers. Surprisingly very light but still slippery and nice to drink. La Divine is quite nice beer with pleasant nuancees, but still there should be something more in each sector. Beer for starting beer raters?

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Off-white head recedes to hug rim leaving spot lacing. Citrus hop and caramel aromas. Sweet upfront with sharp caramel and a lasting, dry Belgian yeast finish.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry malt with some traces of DMS. Taste is also dominated by notes of DMS with some lightly sweet caramel malt notes. No spices or ester form the yeast are really noticeable and DMS is a bit too omnipresent. Medium body with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol.

Bottled. BB 02/2010. Clear deep golden color, small white head. Strong aroma of leather in the nose with some hops and fruity tinge. Very carbonated, lively mouthfeel. Flavor has spices (black pepper), tropical fruits and leather. Finish is quite alcoholic. Aftertaste has some bitter hops together with alcoholic warming feeling. A bit thin. Quite simple, but someway drinkable. This is not really a biere de garde, but closer to strong Belgian ales.

Bottled, from Alko. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruits, earth, mild metal as well as some slight malts. Flavour is fruits, yeast, some spices and also quite earthy notes. Mild alcohol in the finish. As it gets warmer it gets melted rubber in the aroma, as well as the mild metallicness gets quite much stronger. Flavour stays quite the same when warming up.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. US bottle at 8.0% ABV. Clear golden body with a tight white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of hay, caramel, pepper and apple. Taste is a little light struck or skunky, with dry fruits, caramel and kind of sugary. Lively carbonation.
