Penderels Oak, Holborn 1 Nov 12. JDW Festivaløl. Dyp brun. Raskt dalende skum. Svak fruktaroma. Søt, litt tynn fruktsmak. Innslag av mandler. Kjedelig.

Not completely black in colour, has a small red glow and some head. Light roasted flavour, sweet tasting character.

Half-pint, cask at Penderels Oak, shared with Finn. Fading, beige head. Nice mahogany coloured body. Mid-sweet, slightly roasted malts to the nose. Flavoured with pale malts with a touch of dark chocolate behind and added by a little roastiness. Malt bitter ending. Soft in the mouth. Pleasant (JDWs real ale festival, London 01.11.2012).

26th October 2012
Knights Templar Spoons. Clear deep amber beer. Tidy pale tan head. Palate is crisp and light. Smooth malt, tangy and with a whisper of roast. Tangy dried fruits turning sweeter. Semi dry and crisp finish. All right despite a tiny of sulphur.

[Cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading] Dark brown with a beige head and a light fizz. Rather thin mouthfeel - definitely has a lager feel to it. Some smoke at first, a little chocolate and roasted malt, then a dry, prickly, grassy finish. OK considering it’s a style I’m not a huge fan of.

Cask at Arthur Robertson (JDW) part of Autumn 2012 Beer Festival; dark brown pour, some trace of malt in the aroma, quite thin mouth feel light carbonation. Don’t much going on here, move along.
