Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Hazy dark brown, stable, thin, tan head. Aroma of dried fig, prune, rum-soaked raisin, tawny port, almond, walnut, blackberry jam, tobacco, carré confiture, burnt caramel. Taste has sweet raisin & prune and sourish blackberry in a walnutty, almondy, jam-like malt body with herbal liquorice notes. Soft earthy hops in the finish, lingering dried fruits, some woody tannins and warming port-like alcohol. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Complex and delicious.

Tap. Dark brown color with off-white head. Aroma is big red wine, wood, raisins, toffee. Taste is red wine again, raisins, caramel, toffee, wood, some ryespice, a dash of tobacco, a bit of tannins and a warming booze finish. Thicc oily mouthfeel, fine-bubbled carbonation. Excellent Barleywine!

Borefts XII Day 2. Hazy amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, good fine carbonation. Light malts, a thin dry creamy sweetness, touch of caramel. Wet wood. Ripe rich red wine fruits, very ripe, nicely winey.

On tap at Borefts 2022. russet colour few bubbles. lots of barrel character some malty sweet barley wine beneath it. a bit oxidised. not great. it's OK. barley wine. sweet. oxidisation

A little cloudy red brown beer, creamy dense beige head, stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of alcohol, whisky, chocolate notes, more roast, whisky, alcohol, red wine. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bitter, lots of alcohol, oxidized, sweet, dried fruits, a bit sourish, red wine. Aftertaste: alcohol, dry, tannins, good roast, bitter, more alcohol, red wine, sourish finish, decent if a little too much on the red wine for me.

Ce LSB 2020, vieilli en fut de Bordeaux rouge, est un Barley WIne sérieux et globalement bien fait qui vous fait passer un bon moment. Des imprécisions et un final décevant ne lui permettent pas toutefois de concourir aux plus hautes sphères. En verre, nous sommes sur un brun sans mousse. Au nez, le vin rouge est dominant sur le raisin, la figue et le caramel. A la dégustation, on apprécie la texture, dense comme doit l'être un Barley Wine avec une profondeur intéressante. Sur l'attaque, l'alcool se fait cependant un peu trop ressentir. De légères épices apparaissent également. L'équilibre aromatique est perturbé en seconde bouche avec un vin rouge et des épices trop sur les devants, gâchant quelque peu la base. Sur l'arrière bouche, la sucrosité est quant à elle un peu trop prégnante. La corpulence y est bonne à l'inverse de la longueur, moyennement long, avec un final qui se veut discret. Quelques réglages à faire.

Bottle. Brown copper pour. Aroma of rich raisin, vineus red grape, oak, vanilla, caramel, dates, figs, rye and malt. Taste has rich caramely raisin, vineus red grape, oak, vanilla, caramel, dates, figs, soft rye and some candi sugar. Soft round mouthfeel. This is really good, lovely rich flavors.
