It's brewed from 3 types of malt (barley, spelt and buckwheat) and Brewers' Gold hops, all produced in Belgium. This seasonal beer is very thirst-quenching, rich in fruit aromas (lemon, pineapple, ...), typical phenolic aromas and offers a light floral taste. The hops used give it a sustained and balanced bitterness and post-bitterness. The result is a beer with a rich and deep taste.

(Bottle) Hazy golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Spicy, malty nose with notes of apricots, white bread, wheat, clove, honey and citrus. Spicy, malty taste with apricots, white bread, clove, honey, citrus peel, banana and a fairly low spicy bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Well balanced saison, leaning slightly in the Belgian blonde direction. Nice one.

Bottle, 6%. Citric, lemony and perhaps Bretty aroma. Hazy bright golden colour. Stable white head. The flavour starts off malty with a mild note of Belgian yeast. Slightly citric and lemony flavour with a note of Nelson Sauvin or some other vanilla thing. Citric and papery finish.

19/IV/22 (??? No idea when I actually drank this, just found my notes on a loose paper, undated, laying around...) - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: I/2023, lot: 15:05:10 (2022-388)
Clear blond beer, big aery crackling soapy white head, a little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very yeasty, lots of banana, a bit spicy, coriander, more overripe banana, 4VG. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: gentle bitterness, a bit herbal, yeast, some coriander, a bit soapy. Aftertaste: more soapy, bitter, a bit spicy, yeast, somewhat metallic, banana, meh.

Fles thuis geprobeerd. Het is een helder goudgeel bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een frisse en gistachtige geur. De smaak is fris, citrusachtige en bitter.

Bottle. Amber. Almost clear with a cm of white head that lasts fairly well. Mildly funky and earthy aroma with grainy underbaked bread, spices, some orange. Perhaps even more familiar taste with a balance of fruit, doughy funk and purposeful spicy bitterness. Moody, deeply refreshing, deeper than first appears.

Bottle from Systembolaget. A very nice farmhouse style ale that I would have happily had more of. Ticked all the boxes it style suggests it should.

Apparently Dupont is planning to continue Hirond'Ale with slight alterations each year, and being a Dupont fan myself, this third edition is one beer I just had to taste. Very thick, pillowy, egg-white, cobweb-lacing, very stable and dense head sustained by fierce sparkling rushing through a misty golden blonde beer with apricot tinge, turning into a cloudy ochre with sediment. Aroma of dried lemon zest, freshly cut grass, tulips, lemonbalm, sweetclover, red apple slices, straw, homemade lemon bread, halfripe banana, moist white pepper, raw parsnip. Crisp onset, lots of fizzy carbonation with strong minerality accompanying it, somewhat covering up the underlying fruitiness of green pear, red apple and a dash of banana, dryish from the start though, with a slender bready malt core with cereally edges under ongoing green fruit and upcoming phenolic spiciness (clove, even very vague aniseed) but mostly coloured by a vivid, zesty hoppiness, providing long, drying bitterness matching well with the breadiness of the malts and yeast, as well as retronasal effects of dried lemongrass, field flowers and old dried lime zest. I can swear I can feel a hint of warming alcohol going down too, accentuating the bitterness, which is weird for a beer of only 6% ABV, but it does not at all disturb me. Another Dupont saison variation - more of the same, someone of bad faith could argue, but it is a delight every time to bask in Dupont's ancient yeast strain features and their mastery of this ancient style. More zesty and 'brightly' hopped than the regular Saison Dupont too - and the original Hirond'Ale as well, this beer does offer a new shade in Dupont's saison range, and it is as solid as one would expect from this accomplished and experienced brewery. Fit for an early summer evening.

@home poured into a shaker. Slightly hazy medium golden colour, tall frothy white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma light sweet malts, saison yeast, lemon, grassy hops. Smooth taste, medium sweet and bitter, faint acidic untertone, malty, yeast, lemon, grassy hops. Medium body, oily texture, dry sweetbitter aftertaste, some yeast, peppery notes, tasty, very good.
