Hand-pulled pint in La Cracke, Liverpool on 7th Feb 2014: this is the regular ’best bitter’ in here. Pours an amber golden colour with an off-white topping. Sweet malty molasses hit the nose and taste buds: this isn’t a hoppy brew. Bob gets wobbly from the maltiness within the 6% ABV of the beer. This is a most enjoyable drink, if like me, you are fond of semi-sweet beers that hide the hop content almost completely, allowing them to appear towards the finish so that the beer has a mini-dry and bitter end to each sip. Full bodied and far too easy to drink.

Cask at York Tap. Pours medium brown with a very thin white head. No carbonation. Aromas of mixed spice , ginger, toffee and alcohol, maybe even nail varnish. Taste continues this theme, whilst managing to somehow taste stronger than it is. Odd.

Cask at GBBF. Slightly hazy amber beer - brown beer. Softish palate, a little dry. Low carbonation. Rich fruit - very nice! Orange and peach well blended with rich malt. Tasty!

Cask @ Lower Turks Head, Manchester - as Lower Turks Head turkish Delight. Dark amber with glow and a small head. Has a berry-sweet nose, and a sweetness masks its strength. It’s not overly flavoursome. 53539

Fra cask på Pommelers Rest (JDW), Tower Bridge 18 Mai 11. Brun. Lavt skum. Forsiktig karamellaroma. Smaken litt fruktig med litt malt. Relativt kjedelig.
