2005 bottle. Deep golden color, almost light amber. Ginger, malt and aprocot in the aroma. Sweet flavor with ginger, lemon and peach. A tad sugary. This beer is certainly not bad, I just don’t like ginger. 2007 tap, café Morshuis Albergen. Malty sweet flavor with loads of tropical fruit, coreander and flowery hops, especially coming up in the afteratste. Full bodied, tasty and not without complexity.

Christmas tripel formerly made at ’Proef’ for Guy Pirlot. Thick, sticky, cream white head, peach blonde colour, equally hazy. Strong spicy and fruity aroma of orange, banana, sweet curry, tomato, white pepper, coriander, apple, paprika. Sweet malty onset, freshened by citrus, caramel, honeyish, very spicy with lots of coriander and other spices, dry finish with badly hidden, bit astringent alcohol and floral hops. Too spicy and too alcoholic to be really pleasing.

2008 vintage. An amber ale with floaties and a thick collapsing white head. In aroma, sweet maderized malt with orange peels, light doughy characted, signs of age. In mouth, a smooth sweet honey malt with musty notes, curacao, oxidized but still good. Bieropholie import.

Pours a hazy yellow, orange color. Smells not good, can’t tell what it is. Taste is a little bit better but not a winner for me. Only thing about it in my opinion is the carbs, which suit the 9% ABV.

2009 vintage
Orange golden colour, full and frothy white head. Aroma of raisins, malt, belgian yeast and spices. Quite alcoholic. Flavour sweetish, malty, yeasty, notes of raisins and other fruits. Rather spicy, nutmeg, cloves. Bit more pronounced bitter than expected (nice though). Finish subtle bitter.

Bottle: Poured a hazy dirty amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugar with typical Belgian malt base. Taste is a bit heavy ion the candi sugar with a solid malt base though nothing that really stands out. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Well done though hardly stands out from the packs of Belgian Strong ales
