Bottle. Color: Black, very thin beige head. Aroma: Dark roasted malt, liquorice, boozy. Taste: Dark roasted malt with notes of mocha, fudge, bourbon, vanilla, liquorice, booze. Hints of honey and wood Warming and dry mouthfeel. Medium sweet, moderate bitter. Well balanced, pretty complex. Bit earthy. Full body, soft carbonation. Nice beer for slow sipping.

Bottled 09.28.2016. black color, small coffee colored head. smells strong of bourbon, licorice, earthy, nutty, marzipan, nice bourbon notes. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of bourbon, nutty, marzipan, coconut, licorice, light molasses, some vanilla. finishes rather balanced with notes of bourbon, marzipan and nutty notes. very nice, not overly complex but lovely bourbon notes. good stuff. 8, 4, 8, 4, 16

Aroma of bourbon barrel, cocoa powder, soy sauce, dark chocolate, tobacco, dark fruits, some coffee, slight liquorice.
Tastes quite similar, with more chocolate, some alcohol.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with some carbonation.
Finishes roasty, moderate dry, wooden, a bit sweet, with bourbon, cocoa powder, liquorice, soy sauce,

Tasty. Very rich for the lower ABV, no difference to a 10+ ABV style example. Well integrated bourbon barrel, not too dominant, with lovely chocolate notes throughout. Very enjoyable example of a bourbon BA Imperial Stout.

bomber, ale met honey and aged in bourbon, schenkt zwart met fijne licht bruine kraag. aroma van héérlijke zoete bourbon, vanille, volle donkere chocolade, cacao, geroosterd en gebrand, smaken veel drop, wat lichte laurier, veel chocolade, alcohol iets scherp, romig, zacht, geroosterde en gebrande mouten, bittertje, koffie, wat noten, en veel bourbon, redelijk tot volle body, zachte co2, uitstekend.

From a bomber. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of bourbon and molasses. Flavors of oak, prunes, and vanilla. This is a one killer RIS.

Vintage bomber of about three years old at ’t Velootje in Ghent, thanks Lieven. Creamy, dense, pale brownish beige head, thin and dissolving in the middle but retaining around the edge; black robe with chestnut brown edges, only visible for about one millimeter off the edge. Lovely, rich bouquet of hot chocolate sauce, cappuccino, espresso beans, bourbon, vanilla, dry oak, blackberry jam, ruby port, mocha ice cream, hazelnuts, ’blood’ iron, soy sauce, beef stock cubes, madera. Clean, ’dark’ fruity onset, brambleberries, lots of candied date flavors enhanced by the added honey, soy sauce-like umami accent but subtle, soft carbo, thick oily mouthfeel. The mouth cavity is soon lined by lovely nutty and chocolatey ’black’ malt sweetness turning to toasted bitter and eventually roasted coffee, but in a soft and elegant way; long, beautifully bittersweet finish with vanilla-like oak tannins, a peppery hop bitter punch, some light retronasal maderisation and eventually a lot of heating, very explicitly bourbon-like, but not wry alcohol. Unexpectedly beautiful stout, graciously aged and in perfect balance, this is clearly a masterpiece of international allure.
