It was a long, long time ago, that the Hofbräu Maibock was brewed for the first time: In 1614 the bottom-fermented beer specialty filled beer steins for the first time. Even today, Munich's oldest bock beer is still as popular as ever with its full-bodied, malty flavor. The relatively high alcohol content of 7.2% Vol. doesn’t do things half-way – and satisfies, especially honest beer connoisseurs.

Has a good aroma mix of caramel and shredded wheat, nice big head and clear copper body with minimal carbonation. Flavour is a good bread and rye mix with sweet wurt notes, and a smooth mouthfeel. Nice and refreshing.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours clear brown. Aroma is light caramel, soft piney hops, little nuts. Body is medium, lively carbonated and rather sweet, even a bit sticky. Little bitterness. Some nut flavours, syrup. Rather sweet palate. Still not my type of beer, but this is okay.

500 ml bottle, servec in mug. Nice amber copper colour, medium head. Malt, caramel, dark bread. Malty sweetness and nice hoppy bitterness, very smooth and süffig, also a bit metallic. Oily texture, medium body. Soft carbonated. Nice Maibock!

Copper, clear body, with a big, fluffy, rocky, lacing, light beige head.
Aroma of caramel, flowers, grains, bread, some cocoa, some toast, some sweet fruits.
Tastes pretty similar, with a bit alcohol.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes medium sweet, medium toasty, a bit dry, a bit floral, hoppy, a bit warming, with cocoa, caramel, bread.
Really nice. Very quaffable and not too sweet, although with quite a lot of caramel, still with enough toasty and grainy notes. Very good, characterful Bock, although it is more a dark than a pale one.

0.5l bottle. Clear dark orange body with a lasting white head. Aroma of bread, sugar syrup, raisins, orange zest and floral hops. Taste of bread, caramel, raisins and orange zest with grassy and floral hops. Great maibock. The label says it is available all around the World. Hungary is and exception, but hopefully it’ll show up here at spring time too.

Tasty maibock, heavy caramel malt backed by a mild nutty undertone, slight apple esters rising from the yeast, leading to a moderately sweet, boozy finish. Modest hops add a pungent, slightly medicinal bitterness to the back end, yet the fade is smooth and sweet. Pretty orange pour gives up a fluffy white head, but the somewhat lackadaisical nose never matches the lovely malt core. Doesn’t matter. Tastes good.

Many thanks for this Top Beer To Kevnic2008. Piana sprora tresciwa kremowa i utrzymujaca sie prawie do konca degustacji. Kolor bursztynowy z jasniutkimi refleksami truskawkowej czerwieni. Zapach ciasta drozdzowego, w smaku slodowe ale subtelnie chmielnosc niewielka, alkohol lekko rozgrzewajacy. Porzadny jasny i Kozlaczek i sezonowy w dodatku. Polecam nie tylko w maju.

Bottle from trade with pivnizub, thanks Guenther! Bottle 0.5l. Clear, pale amber colored. AROMA- grainy, caramel, touch of bread, note of metal. FLAVOR- neutral, slightly bitter, again grains, bread and caramel, light, a bit harsh alcohol presence. Medium bodied, very attenuated.

On tap. Pours a clear copper with a medium, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, fruit and brown sugar. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, bread and fruit with a hint of alcohol in a slightly dry finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation.
