To read the method that this is produced under is interesting enough, as for a beer itself it is golden with a strong bitter character in both nose and taste and relatively smooth in its finish.

This is the Sainsbury’s bottled version. Nice sharp, tangy bittereness in the flavor and lingering on the palate. Very tasty...

500ml bottle - looks good, exactly the same as the picture. Deep amber body with a decent sized head. Aroma is pretty average, nothing that strikes you, but not offensive. Mild hoppy taste, nothing afterwards. Very mediocre, but I’d not refuse it in the future.

Brown 500ml bottle, discovered two of these in one of my stash piles that I had not checked for a while, best before 28th Sep 2007, drank now, as I review, 26th Sep 2007. Poured into a pint sleeve, the label says drink at 13 degrees C. I am doing just that. Good colour for a pale ale? (I think its a bitter) Light terracotta with a firm white head, a fine looking beast. Malty, hoppy, yeasty mix in the smell, add sweetness from seaside rock and you are half way there. Solid more than exciting taste, bitter yet a sweetness is in there too, complexed and complicated. It grows on you as you get used to it. This beer is very drinkable, the sweetness and bitterness mixture seems to blend well. As the beer warms up it becomes even more complexed both in taste and aroma.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Amber coloured with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel aroma with a hint of grassy hop. Flavour had more cereals and a decent, bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle from Sainsburys, Kidlington October 2011 consumed at Isobels, Eardisley, Herefordshire 15.10.11 . Pours a copper in colour with a decent sized white head. There are some light hoppy notes on the nose bit of light fruitiness also.Taste was also a little hoppy but with a slight dryness and some fruit and toffee maltiness combining. Its ok. (bottle) Hazy, amber colour with a loose medium-sized tanned foamy head. Fruity and toast-malty aroma with notes of caramel, berries and a touch of liquorice. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Mildly toasty malty and fruity taste with notes of berries and citrus, accompanied by liquorice spice; fruity and slightly toasty finish. Classical stuff. 15.XII.10

Bottle: Deep golden, unclear, smaller persistent lacy off-white head, fruity-hoppy nose; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; caramelly sweetness balances the dry hoppy finish. Very O.K..........
