This new beer makes its début at this Wetherspoon real-ale festival and is a rich, dark brew, made with chocolate and a fine blend of malt and hops, to create a flavour which is definitely addictive. Golding Hops

Dark brew with chocolate aroma, although does feel overbearing in its taste when drunk.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 24/25 Dec 2010. Classic chocolate novelty. Deep brown with a pale brown head. Lactic creamy aroma, buttery milk chocolate in-mouth, rather like the chocolates left by your bed in hotel rooms and the chocolate santas claus you buy for 30p in the supermarket. Finish of nice chocolate and berries on a smooth mouthfeel. Rated as a novelty.

Cask at The Central Bar, JDW. Pour an opaque, ruby-brown with a light, white film. Chocolate syrup aroma with some vanilla and coffee bean notes. Of moderate sweetness with a mocha character. Perhaps a touch artificial. Only faint bitterness. Medium in body with fine, smooth carbonation. Finishes with more chocolate syrup notes and faint, coffee-like bitterness. So so.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Black with no head. Rich smooth cocoa taste dominates, balanced with a hint of roasted malt and a faint touch of sourness. Nice mild, but quite sweet so you’d probably want to make it the last beer of the session. The chocolate lingers afterwards for a surprisingly long time.
